Joana’s Apartment: set design
The script described Joana’s apartment as shabby chic. The chosen location, a modern Montreal apartment, came with a challenge: a large, saturated rose mural on the accent wall that pulled all the attention in the frame, away from the actors and the dialogue. Working with the location as it was, Mia built the set around the wall.
To bring the script’s shabby chic style into a modern space, she blended modern shabby chic minimalism with 1980s shabby chic elements: vintage pieces, rich textures and a warm, deep palette strong enough to balance the wall rather than compete with it. Patterned pillows, a red sofa cover, a fur throw, ceramic vessels, candles and climbing ivy brought the space down to a human scale.
Architectural blueprints and framed sketches from the character’s travels in Europe gave the apartment a personal history. Since the room was too small for a real workspace, it was dressed as a place where Joana draws for herself, not for work.
Costume
Mia also designed the outfits for the cast, keeping each character’s look consistent with the palette and mood of the set.

The project began with Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors by Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky.
In Ukrainian mythology, the mavka is a forest and water spirit, close to the mermaid. Folk belief held that mavkas were the souls of drowned or unbaptized girls. They were imagined as young women of unearthly beauty, either naked or dressed in long white shirts, with long, loose hair.
In the Hutsul region of the Carpathians, the mavka had a pale face, large blue eyes and a delicate white body.
Yet she had no back: from behind, her insides were exposed, not even covered by skin. She moved so lightly that the grass did not bend beneath her feet.

Isabel Lopez

Isabel is known for her sly and cunning personality, making her the Libertad's master of espionage. She excels at disguises and false identities, gathering crucial information and creating powerful propaganda materials for the rebellion.
Her artistic talents extend beyond her graffiti roots. Within Libertad, she is the go-to person for creating posters that inspire and unite the masses. They are strategically placed throughout Yara to rally support for the rebellion.
She discovers that someone within Libertad was indirectly responsible for the death of a loved one due to a compromised operation. This shatters her trust and belief in the cause, fueling her desire for justice.
the underground of the church: Laboratory
2023
France in the '90s, human cloning experiments were conducted on prisoners who died at a young age. The laboratory is located in the basement of the Catholic church, whose synods are members of the cult of the atheistic faith. Underground are catacombs, which have been converted into a secret laboratory. The cult leader initiated the start of the experiment after hearing a voice not from our world.
Before experiments on the bodies of dead people, experiments were also conducted on animals. Currently, these premises are abandoned, instead of sprouted moss, cells from collected bodies have grown here. After this project was exposed, the scientists and the leader disappeared and were never seen again.
My concept art is recreated in 3D in collaboration with Ruslan Akhundov, environment texture artist, who has provided a game-ready experience for the project.
wings of rebellion
The Bazaar, which is located on top of the mountains and has several levels of height. Quite unstable, but these people don't care, as long as it here near their residential buildings behind.
The environment was built in Unreal Engine 5 from an initial sketch, using free assets, and then refined and painted over in Photoshop.

huntress
A Tibetan huntress girl. She is a princess, although rebellious in character and goes against the rules.
She uses animal skulls as bags because she considers it an honorable way to carry their remains. Always by her side is her bird friend, who assists her in hunting.

Inspired by Outlast, the work depicts the patients of an asylum abused by their own doctor and treated as objects rather than people.

Two immigrant teenagers in Los Angeles, far from home, drifting through a city that never quite becomes theirs.
It is a series of moments, like stills from a film that was never made: late-night drives, neon light, empty rooms and long silences. The series is about the in-between state: no longer belonging to where you came from, not yet belonging to where you are.
